STUDIO SPACE

STABLE studios are below market rate, non-living studio spaces for visual artists. STABLE's mission is to strengthen Washington, DC’s contemporary visual arts community by providing affordable and sustainable studio space, fostering an engaged, diverse community, and extending access to local, national, and international audiences through partnerships, programming, and exhibitions. Artists are selected based on merit from a competitive pool of applicants by an external jury comprised of arts professionals, and curators.

The program is open to artists over the age of 21 who are American Citizens or have legal U.S. Residency status, and are not enrolled in a degree-granting program at the time of their residency. The program is open to artists of all disciplines of visual art.

Studio spaces will be available in Late 2018 (studio dues will be at the first of the month via direct deposit).

POST STUDIO SPACE

A primary focus of STABLE's vision is to learn more about the expanded field of artistic practice. We want to provide access for as many people in our field as possible, including non-traditional, hybrid and critical, writing art practices.

In addition to our individual studios ranging in size from 100 square feet to over 600 square feet, our “post-studio” space will allow 12 artists who do not need traditional studios to have desk space within the STABLE complex. This shared space will also be made available to independent curators and arts organizers. The space will be a shared space for $100/per month with 24/7 access.

Artists are selected based on merit from a competitive pool of applicants by an external jury comprised of arts professionals, and curators.

Post Studio spaces will be available in Late 2018 (studio dues will be at the first of the month via direct deposit).
